Matt Meredith

of informing others about energy efficiency,
better home design, more comfortable living
and the ways in which Pyranak Design Group
incorporates them into every home they
design. He is also involved in the
research of more energy-efficient and cost-effective

Houston is
far behind in the development of Green
Building and Energy Efficient homes.
It is hard to find specialists in the area
that can answer all your questions about the
best way to build a home. |
|
The
market leans heavily on conventional
stick-built homes in Houston and nationally. I meet people all the time who have
never even heard of energy efficient
building methods such as Geothermal heating
and cooling, structural insulated panels
(SIPs), green roofs and green landscaping,
or if they have, their perceptions of it are
vague and at times shocking to me. Many
people believe that energy efficient homes
are built out of straw bales or mud. They
believe they are not comfortable and may
look like the
“homes of the future”
that everyone remembers from the 70’s. |

Many
builders in Houston have very little
experience when it comes to green design and
energy efficient resources for building a
home. They may try to dissuade you from
building the home you want simply because
they lack the know-how to do so, but not at
Pyranak Design Group. |
|
Time and
again I have seen people not get the home
they wanted because the designer and/or
builder does not know about the newer
methods and products for building a home
that are in the market today. They haven’t
taken the time to research and incorporate
them into the homes they design or build. |
|
The
technology of today allows us to build
quicker, more durable and safer than ever. Homes built
using energy efficient methods not only last
longer and cut down on heating, cooling and
maintenance costs tremendously, but they
have been proven more comfortable, they are
safer for living in because they are
stronger, and they are as elegant and
stylish as any other home you will ever see. |

It is
important to help others realize the
benefits of building energy-efficient homes,
not just for the benefits they have for the
homeowner, but also the environmental
differences they make. Building a home
is the greatest investment anyone will ever
make, and at Pyranak Design Group, we
understand this, and guide you through
